Defiance is bigger than its city limits

The incorporated City of Defiance is tiny, basically a short stretch of Highway 94. When people say Defiance, they mean the whole 63341 area around it, and that's what this page shows. Most of it is unincorporated St. Charles County, so county zoning applies instead of city rules, which is a big reason barns, horses and outbuildings are so common out here.

Most Defiance homes are in the Francis Howell School District, but some on the west side are in the Washington School District, so check the district on the specific address. Plan for rural utilities too. Septic, well water and propane are normal at every price point, and not every road has high-speed internet.

Highway 94 is the main road through town, and most of the neighborhoods sit off Highways D, DD and F, including the Callaway communities around Callaway Fork and Kohler Estates. Augusta is about five miles west on 94, and O'Fallon, Lake St. Louis and Chesterfield are each about 20 to 25 minutes away.
